ALEJANDRITA LASER

A LASER FOR EACH PERSON AND TREATMENT

HOW DOES THE LASER TREATMENT WORK?

The laser generates a high-intensity beam of light that deeply penetrates the skin, giving out a controlled amount of focused therapeutic heat.

WHAT CAN I EXPECT DURING THE TREATMENT?

Your eyes will be protected from the laser beam. Your nurse will guide the laser to the treatment areas through a small handpiece. Each pulse is accompanied by cooling air. The duration of the treatment can range from a couple of minutes to even one hour, depending on the area to be treated.

DOES IT HURT?

Some patients can have a slight feeling of discomfort with each laser pulse, sometimes described as a rubber band hitting the skin. This discomfort is quickly relieved and is reduced to the minimum thanks to the air cooling. Some patients may opt for a topical anesthetic before the treatment. Make sure to consult your nurse.

HOW MAY TREATMENT SESSIONS WILL I NEED?

The number of sessions depends on the treatment that you need and on the state of your skin. In hair removal cases, several treatments are required, as the process is more effective when the hair follicle is at its active growth stage.

HOW SHOULD I PREPARE MYSELF FOR THE TREATMENT?

Prior to treatment, the patients willing to have their hair removed must avoid waxing, tweezing and electrolysis during 4-6 weeks. Your skin must be shaven and thoroughly clean and dry, removing any trace of makeup, creams, oils, topical anesthetics and self-tanning products before the laser treatment. The area that will be subject to treatment must not be exposed to direct sunlight or to the ultraviolet rays of tanning rooms both before and after the treatment, according to the recommendations of your nurse.

DOES IT HAVE SIDE EFFECTS?

Risks are minimal. The side effects could include reddening, swelling, hyperpigmentation (skin darkening), hypopigmentation (loss of skin color), creation of blisters and purpura (a bruise caused by the laser) on the treated area, among others... Make sure to ask the professionals of the Center in order to be correctly informed about the possible side effects. .
